Exclusive: Alisha Miller’s England Beach Soccer Debut

Alisha Miller
From futsal courts to sun-soaked sands, Alisha Miller’s leap into beach soccer has been anything but ordinary. Fresh off her debut for England, we caught up with her to unpack the transition, her standout goal, and what’s next in her growing international career.
From Twitter Scroll to Talent ID Triumph
“I absolutely hate off-season!” Alisha laughs. “The end of football and futsal had me itching to play again. I spotted a Talent ID Day post on Twitter/X and thought, ‘If I can play on grass and court, surely sand can’t be that much harder…’ I went down to a session—and absolutely loved it.”
Translating Power and Precision from Court to Coastline
Her futsal background gave her an edge. “I’ve always been a powerful player, and that’s helped on the sand—though my top speed definitely dropped!” she admits. “Tactically, both sports share quick transitions and no time for hesitation. You have to be mentally switched on at all times.”

The Pride of an England Shirt
Stepping onto the sand for England was unforgettable. “It’s always a proud moment representing your country, especially for the first time. I’m quite serious in games, so I probably didn’t look very happy—but inside I was buzzing.”

Debut Goal Drama
In true debut fashion, she found the back of the net. “I actually forgot how I scored until watching it back,” she laughs. “The ball bounced kindly, and I focused on making solid contact. The coaches had talked about using my strength, and to score with that in mind was awesome.”
Challenges on the Sand
“The weather!” she jokes. “I burn so easily, so Spain was a challenge.” But it wasn’t just the sun—“I’m known for my fitness in futsal, but sand is humbling. It took time to figure out how to move efficiently.”

A Squad That Lifts Each Other
Confidence is key, and Alisha credits her teammates: “The coaches and players have been incredibly supportive since day one. Knowing people believed in me made all the difference.”

Hope for the Future of Women’s Beach Soccer
“I didn’t even know beach soccer existed in the UK until recently. With more facilities and opportunities popping up, hopefully the sport will continue to grow—and we’ll see the next generation of England players coming through.”
Inspiration and Influence
Her futsal roots run deep: “Junior Roberti, my first futsal coach at York, taught me the game and made me fall in love with it.” For beach soccer, she’s still finding her influences: “I love watching Portugal’s men’s team. They play on the sand—not just in the air—and it feels a bit like futsal.”

Goals and Ambitions
What’s next? “Learn to bicycle kick—number one!” she says with a grin. “I didn’t expect anything when I started, so now it’s about technical growth and playing for England more. Hopefully score some great goals too.”
From Court to Coast—Final Words of Wisdom
Her advice for futsal players curious about beach soccer? “100% give it a go. It’s such a fun challenge. Just be ready to be absolutely blowing after five minutes—and don’t forget your suncream!”
Thanks Alisha we look forward to seeing you back on the sand with England Beach Soccer #beachsoccer
