England Ladies cruise to victory by 8 goals to nil….

ENG 8-0 CZE

A nervy comeback against the hosts Portugal yesterday, England offered a more convincing performance against Czech Republic in their second group match.

Molly Clark netted her third of the competition in the first period, but the Czechs were still very much in the tie at the first whistle. The flood gates opened in the next period though, and Clark and Kempson (2017 World’s Best Player) claimed braces, and Short and James also got their names on the scoresheet.

The final period saw more of the same, as Short netted twice more to bury the game once and for all, completing her hat-trick, as Hannah Haughton claiming a clean sheet.

Disappointment for the Czechs who are now out of the running for the title, but if England beat Switzerland tomorrow, they will be one game away from regaining the continental crown.

Goals: 1-0: Clark, min. 5 (1); 2-0: Kempson, min. 11 (2); 3-0: Clark, min. 10 (2); 4-0: James, min. 5 (2); 5-0: Kempson, min. 3 (2); 6-0: C. Short, min. 2 (2); 7-0: C. Short, min. 9 (3); 8-0: C. Short, min. 1 (3)
