Isle of Wight Women Make History in Nazaré
The Isle of Wight Women’s Beach Soccer Team has made history with a sensational fourth-place finish at the prestigious Euro Winners Beach Soccer Cup in Nazaré, Portugal — their best-ever result in the competition. This landmark achievement has catapulted them up the European and global rankings, firmly establishing them as one of the continent’s rising forces.

A Tournament to Remember
After a dominant group stage performance, the Isle of Wight squad secured a dramatic quarterfinal win over Polish champions and last year’s runners-up. Despite narrow defeats in the semifinal and third-place playoff, their fourth-place finish cements their growing reputation on the international stage.

Star Performers
The team’s success was powered by a talented and diverse squad:
Nicole Evans (Captain) – England international and vocal leader
Ellie Parker – England goalkeeper with standout saves
Chloe Fisher – Former Manchester United player bringing elite experience
Chloe Marshall – England international with a commanding presence
Alisha Buckingham – England international in her prime
Alice Povey & Karima Elouath – Rising stars from the development ranks
Marissa Vasquez, Vanessa Valentine, Tori Phillips & Gabby Batmani – USA internationals adding flair and depth
Coach Ali Hall – A born leader, working alongside Team Manager Luke Kerr and Caoch Kish Kishto
Their chemistry and determination were evident in every match, showcasing the strength of the Isle of Wight’s recruitment and development strategy.

English Talent Shines Across Europe
The tournament also highlighted the growing influence of English players abroad. England internationals Molly and Becky Barron-Clark played pivotal roles for Spanish side CD Atlético Torroxeno, helping them reach the final and finish as European runners-up — a testament to the depth of talent in England’s beach soccer scene.

Portsmouth Men’s Team on the Rise
In the men’s competition, Portsmouth Beach Soccer Club delivered a strong showing. While they didn’t progress past the group stages, their performance reflected the increasing competitiveness of English clubs on the European stage.

A New Era for Isle of Wight Beach Soccer
The Isle of Wight Women’s success has sparked excitement across the island and beyond. Team Manager Luke Kerr reflected:
“This is a proud moment for the Isle of Wight. We’ve shown we can compete with the best in Europe — and this is just the beginning.”

Captain Nicole Evans added:
“We’ve made history and inspired a new generation of players back home. The support has been incredible.”
